I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury to advert to Treasury letter of the 2nd of October 1906 (15470/06) on the subject of the opening of new branches and agencies by the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank- ing Corporation, and to request you to inform Er.Secretary Harcourt that They have received an application from the

Corporation for Their consent to the opening of new branches or agencies at the following places :-

Manting

Tokio

Changsha

Changchun

Harbin

Vladivostock

Delhi

Haiphong

Karachi

Kedah

My Lords are not aware of any objection to the establishment of branches at the particular places

indicated, subject to the requirements of local law, but

They would be glad to learn, before issuing Their warrant,

whether Mr.Secretary Harcourt has any objection to offer to the proposals of the Bank.
